SUPERMAN RE-EDIT WON'T FLY IN THEATERS

Warner Bros. has scrapped plans to release a restored director's cut of the original 1978 Superman and will instead show the film in seven theaters in San Antonio, TX beginning Friday, prior to a Superman Special Edition DVD being released on May 1, the online Digital Media FX News reported today (Wednesday). Commenting on the studio's action, the Web site, which focuses on animation and special effects, commented: "Warner Bros. dropped the ball on a full nationwide release, upsetting millions of Superman fans nationwide and further depriving millions from [sic] the experience of seeing Superman on the big screen for the first time." A Warner Bros. spokesman could not be reached.
