Synopsis: An Army investigator on a big case involving the rape and murder of a general's daughter must do battle with a dangerous gun smuggler as well as the distractions of an attractive enlisted woman. His probe is continually complicated by the fact that he is caught between his role of cop and enlisted man as he treads in very sensitive and dangerous areas.

Comment: Screen adaptation based on a book by Nelson Demille. When the daughter of a distinguished general considered a contender is murdered, a military criminal investigator with a checkered past is employed to crack the case swiftly and with no further embarrassment to the general or the army itself. However, both the investigator and his partner assigned to the case find that in order to get to the bottom of the case, nasty truths about various personell need to be revealed.
