Synopsis: A Ph.D. whose research is on human fear, entices people to spend time in a scary old mansion under the guise of conducting a sleep experiment. The group, including most prominently a reclusive spinster and a hyperactive bisexual, undergoes a series of paranormal encounters with the house, which has a decidedly monstrous personality in its creaky, gothic innards.

Comment: Paid several million dollars for the film rights to the Shirley Jackson story.
