Synopsis: A career gambler is installed in Las Vegas by the mob in the '70s to run their casino. A proven loyal and low-key soldier, he keeps things smooth, deflecting gaming commissions and the local-yokel law enforcement. While laundering the mob's dirty money and greasing the right palms, his stacked-deck world begins to crumble when Vegas begins to change from a mob oasis to a strip run by regulatory boards and acquired by big corporations for "family fun." His smooth operation is further imperiled when he falls for a beautiful, strung-out woman and messed up by the thuggish behavior of his longtime best friend, a goombah who does not appreciate the buttoned-down new ways of these mean, neon streets.
