Synopsis: The Louisiana-raised deputy mayor of New York City finds his down-home notions of political science are challenged in the wake of a notorious crime imperils the administration: A cop, who was involved in a shootout with a drug dealer, is accused of killing a young, black boy. The case reveals the greasy underside to urban politics, where power is brokered, deals are cut, fixes are made and good men go down.
