Synopsis: With the former Soviet Union in the hands of rebels who threaten a nuclear launch against the United States, the nuclear-sub USS Alabama is dispatched toward a hot zone and placed on alert. When an attack command is mysteriously cut off, the ship's commanding officer prepares to launch but is challenged by his steadfast lieutenant commander who seizes control of the vessel to prevent what he considers a foolhardy strike, and possibly plummeting the world into a nuclear holocaust.
