Synopsis: Chicago teens join forces to form The Dreams, an R & B group which rises to the top of the charts under a ruthless manager who forces the leader out of the group when she doesn't conform to the group's ‘glamorous’ image. After hitting the skids, she makes a successful comeback, mends fences with the others and exacts revenge on the conniving manager.

Comment: Based on the hit Broadway musical 'DreamGirls' which made Jennifer Holliday a star. DreamWorks p/u out of turnaround from Warner Bros.
