Synopsis: A cynical former major league baseball star finds out years later that - due to a statistical error - he is three hits short of a record-breaking 3,000 hits. The now-retired player - who is out of shape and running a used car dealership and sports bar, decides to go back to secure his place in the hall of fame by getting his final three hits. He strikes up a romance with a female reporter covering his comeback and in the process rediscovers his love of baseball.
