Synopsis: Arthur Dent, a bemused Englishman is whisked into a space just as Earth is destroyed by bureaucratic aliens to make way for an interplanetary freeway. Dressed in a bathrobe and aided by Ford Prefect, an alien researcher for ‘The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy’, the eponymous guidebook to interplanetary travel, Dent embarks on a reluctant quest across space and time with a motley bunch of extraterrestrial companions. The group discovers that Earth was actually created by mice as an experiment to uncover the answer to the ultimate question of "life, the universe and everything" and as the last surviving earthling, Dent's brain may hold the answer (which, as everyone knows, turns out to be 42).

Comment: Purchased screen rights to Douglas Adams sci-fi cult novel. Previous efforts to launch the motion picture version include those by Ivan Reitman & former MONKEE Michael Nesmith.
