Synopsis: About a ninth century woman who diguised herself as a monk and eventually became pope of the catholic church.

Comment: Fine Line paid six figures for the rights in 1997. Ufa picked up the project from turnaround.

Constantin supposedly went into pre-pro. with John Goodman attached, he declined and they have 'halted' production in order to sue him.

The producers fired the director at the time, Volker Sclohndorff, after he criticized the industry's increasing tendency to simultaneously make extended TV versions of feature films.

7/30/08 - John Goodman and Constantin have settled their lawsuit and he has rejoined the cast. Johanna Wokalek has replaced Franka Potente. - Variety
