Synopsis: An NYU professor gets involved with a detective after a young woman is killed in her neighborhood.

Comment: Nicole Kidman purchased rights to the novel in 1996 and paid for inital development. Was bought out of turnaround, in Fall '02, from would-be co-financiers Miramax and Universal. Budgeted at $15 million.
