Comment: Based on the novel 'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer' by German author Patrick Suskind. Constantin acquired the right of the best selling novel (12 million copies worldwide) 3 year ago. Ridley Scott was originally said to be attached to direct the epic, with Caroline Thompson ("Edward Scissorhands") adapting the novel. 7/15/05 picture got $980,000 from two European sources: pan-European funder Eurimages and the German-French Support Commission.
