Synopsis: British diplomat in Nairobi becomes a spy to investigate the murder of his wife, a crusader against multinational drug companies using poor Africans as guinea pigs. Amid rumors of his wife's infidelity, the diplomat is jerked out of his passive complacency and driven to uncover the conspiracy behind her death.

Comment: Mike Newell once attached to helm. Creative participation swayed Le Carré's decision to sell this title to indie producer, Channing-Williams for seven figures.
