Synopsis: The Baudelaire children are orphaned by a fire. After they are sent to live with the evil Count Olaf, a distant relative, they discover he is plotting to kill them and seize their fortune.

Comment: Based on the Lemony Snicket books. Scott Rudin and Barry Sonnenfeld left project when Paramount brought DW's on to share mounting budget costs. Paramount will take domestic, while DW's takes foreign.(2/03)
