Synopsis:
Ragini is a blind girl living with her parents in a small town in South India. Her father is a singer and has trained her well in music. But her parents are constantly worried about Ragini as they are unable to get her married because of her handicap.
The death of both her parents leaves Ragini alone and miserable, but she carries on regardless. At this time a young man comes into her life and woos her relentlessly. Ragini succumbs to his charms and marries him.
One day he leaves on a business trip and does not return as scheduled. On making inquiries, it is discovered that the man has not only defrauded his office, he has decamped with Ragini’s jewelry and money. She is stunned but refuses to make a police complaint against the man she loves, hoping it is all a terrible misunderstanding.
Then, news comes that her husband has been arrested and that he wishes to see her. Taking her for a submissive Indian wife, he orders her to bail him out, but she refuses, saying that she may be blind, but she is not stupid or helpless. Ragini resolves to survive without him. She goes back to her music and sings as she has never sung before.
