Synopsis: Shweta, affectionately called Sweety is an eighteen year old problem child. She talks to her puppet doll in place of a father she has never met. Her family – the maternal grandparents – Taraknath and Shobhna Gandhi and her mother Vinita are unable to cope with her tantrums. On being forced to get engaged to a boy decided by Tarak, Sweety runs away from home by faking a bomb scare. She decides to go to Seychelles where her parents had met and got secretly married before being separated by Tarak. On the way she meet Rohit – a struggling singer and they progressively fall in love. At Seychelles she meets Anand – a forty year old tycoon from Paris with his girlfriend Swati. Sweety convinces Anand to pretend to be her father for sometime, while Swati leaves, feeling cheated. A sweet father-daughter relationship develops between Sweety & Anand while she and Rohit have several misunderstandings. As all misunderstandings are about to get cleared, Sweety’s Nana – Tarak drags her back to Bombay and forces her to prepare for the wedding as planned. Anand and Rohit arrive on time to stop the wedding. Anand discovers Sweety to be his real daughter. Both Sweety and her mother get married to the right men and they live happily ever after.
