Synopsis: About Frank Lucas grew up in rural, segregated North Carolina. In the early 1970s, he became the biggest heroin dealer in Harlem with a smuggling scheme that imported the stuff out of Southeast Asia in the caskets of Vietnam soldiers. Story centers on narcotics lawman Richie Roberts' struggle to bring down Lucas, whose flamboyant style earned him the street name "Superfly."

Comment: aka "Tru Blu" "The Return of Superfly". Project, which went into dev. in April, 2001, is based on a New York magazine story by Mark Jacobson and life rights deals for Lucas and Roberts. In Oct. '04 Project fell apart when Uni pulled the plug (after spending 30 mil in pre-pro) as costs went significantly over the 100 mil budget. Scott came on with Crowe/Washington in Feb. 06 and may bring it back to life. Project has had a myriad of attachments (See History).

Steven Zaillian was re-hired in a seven figure deal in March of '06 to take another crack at project.
