Synopsis:
A Pulitzer Prize wining, African American author buys a New England summer home and is mistaken as a burglar by his white neighbors. The misidentification escalates as the local lawman and his dopey deputy turn the incident into a “hostage” situation. Although the cop soon discovers his mistake, he finds it politically impossible to admit to the situation. Attempting to save his hide, the lawman convinces the writer to assist him in covering up the gaffe by letting a recent parolee break into his house. The insanity escalates into broad comic areas as the ex-con and author bond against these crazy outside-the-house forces.
