Synopsis: Based on the Louisa May Alcott book, a woman and her three daughters try to survive and flourish in 19th Century England in severely constrictive social and sexual restraints. The three sisters encounter a myriad of challenges: One gets scarlet fever, one moves to New York City and meets a German intellectual whom she feels kinship with, while one embraces the artist's life on the Continent. Through their tribulations and challenges, they persevere, dealing with the women's role of the times and trying to reconcile it with their own idiosyncratic and spirited natures.
