Synopsis:
The Great Akbar has everything an emperor can ask for: immense wealth, vast empire, trusted lieutenants. However, he only wants the one thing a man can ask for: a child, a son, an heir. He prays to the gods and his wish is soon fulfilled.
Akbar lavishes all his affection on the boy but soon realizes that he is perhaps spoiling him. Thus, he sends him away to become a 'man'. The prince soon grows into a strapping man and, at the unveiling of a statue to welcome his return, falls in love with a beautiful courtesan. Following a charming exchange of romantic letters, the two profess their love for each other. But can a prince and a courtesan truly find happiness together?
Akbar urges the courtesan to flee the kingdom for the good of the empire. When the brokenhearted prince learns of this intrigue, he literally goes to war with his father.
