Synopsis: A middle-aged white, English factory worker, who lives a drab life with her street sweeper daughter, and a professional black woman from London, who is attempting to discover her roots, come in for the surprise of their lives - that they are half sisters. Gradually and fitfully, these two very different women come to know each other and love each other. Throughout, the experience also helps them to personally find out who they really are.
