Only days before it had been scheduled to go to trial, Steven Bochco's law suit against 20th Century Fox, in which Bochco claimed that Fox had sold his NYPD Blue show to sibling FX network below market price, was settled Friday. Today's (Monday) Los Angeles Times reported that under the settlement, Fox had agreed to offer NYPD Blue on the open market and pull it off FX if another bidder comes up with a higher figure than what FX had originally paid. The entertainment industry had expected Bochco's lawsuit to become a test of how vertically integrated entertainment companies may legitimately conduct business with their own units.
