COLOR FILM OF DICTATOR DISCOVERED BY CHAPLIN'S SON

Christopher Chaplin, the youngest son of the famed comedian/filmmaker, has unearthed a 25-minute reel of amateur color film shot in 1940 during the production of The Great Dictator, the London Daily Telegraph reported today (Monday). Calling it "an amazing find," famed film historian Kevin Brownlow told the Telegraph that it includes shots of scenes which never made it into the final cut as well as footage of Charlie Chaplin directing the actors and crew. "It provides a unique insight into one of the world's greatest films and the man who made it," Brownlow said. The footage was discovered in a cellar at Chaplin's home in Vevey, Switzerland during restoration work.
