Producer Jon Peters and director Brett Ratner came close to blows at the time Ratner quit Peters' Superman project, Esquire magazine is reporting in its latest issue. According to the magazine, the two ended up in a shouting match over the movie's budget, with Peters later claiming that Ratner threatened him with an armed bodyguard. Ratner was quoted as saying, "I don't need a guard to pull a gun on someone." The dispute, apparently arose out of the budget for the film, which Ratner estimated at $225 million, a figure that Peters deemed unacceptably high.
