NO HDTV OVER THE INTERNET, CUBAN PREDICTS
Wednesday, November 29 2006
|
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who owns the high-definition cable channel HDNet, predicted Tuesday that it will be many years before PC owners will be able to download high-definition movies from the Internet and play them on their TV sets. Writing on his blog, Cuban described an "issue that everyone seems to be missing" -- that there is no way for the average PC user to connect to an HDTV monitor. There are somewhat costly upgrades available, Cuban acknowledges, but how many people, he asks, will opt for such upgrades or PC replacements "rather than just leasing a box from the satellite, cable or telco provider?"
