CRAIG SIGNED FOR FOUR MORE 007 MOVIES

Apparently having overcome the snide comments that greeted the announcement that he had been chosen to play James Bond for Casino Royale, Daniel Craig has signed on to play him again for four more films, according to published reports. MGM chief Harry Sloan told the Hollywood Reporter that Craig had been signed because franchises are "the basis of any studio." Meanwhile, it was reported that writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash) has delivered his screenplay for the next 007 movie to MGM, just beating out the November 1 WGA strike deadline.

fourth
movie

the
year
to
pass
the
$300-million
mark
in
overseas
ticket
sales.
According
to
Daily
Variety,
the
film
took
in
an
additional
$14.5
million
over
the
weekend,
bringing
its
total
foreign
gross
to
$304.4
million,
thereby
joining
Pirates
of
the
Caribbean:
Dead
Man's
Chest,
The
Da
Vinci
Code
and
Ice
Age:
The
Meltdown
as
members
of
the
$300-million
club.

its
North
American
gross
of
about
$144
million,

Casino
Royale
remained
golden
overseas,
raking
in
a
huge
$44.7
million,
according
to
Daily
Variety,
which
put
its
overseas
gross
just
shy
of
$200
million
(at
$196.5
million).
As
expected,
given
its
pedigree,
the
film
has
been
a
big
winner
in
the
U.K.
where
it
took
in
$10.4
million
on
992
screens,
bringing
its
total
in
that
country
to
$71
million
after
two
weeks.
By
contrast,
The
Nativity
Story
proved
to
be
a
bigger
disappointment
