CBS's billboard company, CBS Outdoor, has begun providing free Wi-Fi service along a three-block-wide corridor in New York between Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) and Eighth Avenue from Times Square to Central Park. Users logging on to the service are greeted with an ad-supported home page providing local and national news, music, and a social network developed by CBS. The service employs transmitters located on CBS Outdoor billboards and panels above MTA subway station entrances. In a statement, CBS Outdoor chief Wally Kelly said, "What better way to show we are committed to turning our Outdoor assets into interactive platforms than providing free Wi-Fi service in what is arguably the busiest stretch of real estate in the world."
