The 13th Warrior is generating some unlucky reviews. "Just about everything is big in The 13th Warrior," writes Jay Carr in The Boston Globe, "except the writing, which is microscopic." Likewise Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun Times observes, "With a budget said to be more than $100 million, it displays a lot of cash on the screen, but little thought." But Stephen Hunter in the Washington Post says that the film "qualifies as the summer's primo guilty pleasure. ... And folks, can't we agree on one thing: Any movie with four separate beheadings is pretty darned good entertainment." |
