Appearing to give further support to Chris Rock's observation during the Saturday Night Live anniversary show earlier this month that SNL alums have been responsible for making some of the worst movies ever made, the critics are flinging scathing remarks at the new Superstar, starring Molly Shannon. "Memo to the folks at Saturday Night Live," writes Robert Dominguez in the New York Daily News: "What's funny for 5 minutes doesn't make for a full-length movie." "How'd this thing get made?" Steven Rea in the Boston Globe wants to know. But in his debut as a film critic for the New York Post, Lou Lumenick notes: "Noel Coward it ain't, but the proudly dopey Superstar [is] the funniest SNL movie since Wayne's World." |
