The Haunting is facing the specter of drawing the worst reviews of the year. "This is the kind of movie that's so bad it leaves you wanting to press charges," writes Geoff Pevere in the Toronto Star. In The Haunting, writes Stephen Hunter in the Washington Post, "things go clunk in the night, including the movie. It's about as scary as the episode of This Old House where they taught you how to grout the tile." Jay Carr in the Boston Globe had a similar reaction: "Frankly, my house is scarier. For that matter, my mortgage is more haunting than The Haunting." Finally, Philip Wuntch of the Dallas Morning News, observes that by the time the movie "finally limps to its conclusion, you may feel like booing the screen." |
