Lou Lumenick in the New York Post figures that Biker Boyz must be "something churned out by one of those scriptwriting computer programs." If so, most critics agree, the program is badly in need of an upgrade. Peter Howell writes in the Toronto Star that the film, which stars Laurence Fishburne, isn't "worth a cup of dirty axle grease." Steven Rea in the Philadelphia Inquirer calls it "startlingly lame." Kevin M. Williams comments in the Chicago Tribune: "'Swill' is a perfect word for Biker Boyz, cinematic idiocy served up by the troughful." Claudia Puig in USA Today sums up: "Those who like the sound of cycles revving and are content with ho-hum racing action will be satisfied, but if a credible plot and compelling characters are on your wish list, this movie sadly disappoints." On the other hand, Gene Seymour in Newsday writes that the film presents "material as edgy and dangerous as a turbopowered bike race on slick concrete." |
