Screen Gems presents a film directed by Dewey Nicks. Written by David H. Steinberg. Running time: 87 minutes. Rated R (for strong language and sexual content, and brief drug use). Several reviews of Slackers are accompanied by variations of a warning label: "Don't Go to See This Movie!" It's not so much the fact that the film contains offensive material, Eleanor Ringel Gillespie remarks in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "The offensive part is that this thing ever got made." Rita Kempley's review in the Washington Post is headed "Collegiate Raunch-Fest Gets an F for Feeble -- or Maybe Foul." Jonathan Foreman's in the New York Post reads "Cut Slackers Loose." And Roger Ebert concludes his review by remarking: "There are a lot of good movies in theaters right now. Why waste two hours (which you can never get back) seeing a rotten one?" |
