The reviews of Catch and Release , starring Jennifer Garner, are mostly grudgingly positive. Stephen Holden in the New York Times describes it as "warm and fuzzy." Bill Zwecker in the Chicago Sun-Times concludes, "While [director Susannah] Grant does not break a lot of new ground with this film, it leaves us with a nice feeling at the end." Kevin Crust in the Los Angeles Times calls it "an oddly appealing, if innocuous, movie of considerable charm." To be sure, several critics aren't willing to give it the benefit of half-hearted praise. Claudia Puig in USA Today writes: "Catch and Release is not worth catching. Release yourself from boredom by giving it a miss." And Kyle Smith in the New York Post remarks that while the film may look bland, "it's not. It's worse. To rise to the level of blandness, it would need to have a few gallons of Tabasco dumped into it." |
